🚨 IRS Processing Delays Update 🚨
We want to keep our clients informed—there are currently delays being reported with IRS tax return and payment processing this season.
Due to a combination of staffing shortages, backlogs from prior years, and ongoing processing changes, the IRS is handling a high volume of returns with limited resources.
What this means for you:
• Refunds and payments that typically process quickly may take longer than usual
• Paper-filed returns and mailed payments are seeing the biggest delays
• Returns requiring additional review (like identity verification or corrections) may be held up for weeks
• Direct debit payments may not be withdrawn on the exact date scheduled and could be delayed
The good news:
✔️ Most e-filed returns with direct deposit are still being processed within normal timeframes in many cases
✔️ Payments and direct debits are still being processed—they may just take a little longer than expected
💡 Our recommendation:
If your direct debit hasn’t come out yet or you’re waiting on a refund or notice, give it a little extra time before worrying—delays do not necessarily mean there is an issue with your return.
As always, we’re here to help answer questions and monitor your account if needed. Don’t hesitate to reach out!
