Important updates for business owners:

• BOI reporting: U.S.-formed companies and their U.S. beneficial owners generally are no longer required to file, update, or correct Beneficial Ownership Information reports with FinCEN. Certain foreign entities registered to do business in the U.S. may still have reporting requirements.

• Trump Accounts: Employers may be able to make tax-advantaged contributions of up to $2,500 annually to eligible Trump Accounts for employees or their dependents. These programs require proper plan documents and compliance with applicable rules.

Questions about how these updates may affect your business? We’re here to help.

As we wrap up another year, it's a great time to revisit some of the tax planning opportunities that can make a big difference for small business owners. One area our team often reviews with clients is whether their current entity structure is still the best fit.

As your business grows, the setup you started with may not be the most tax-efficient anymore. Sole proprietorships, partnerships, LLCs, and S corporations all impact taxes differently depending on your income, payroll, and owner compensation. A review can help clarify how each choice affects self-employment taxes, reporting requirements, and long-term planning.

Our team at M. Hughes, CPA & Company, LLC is here to help you understand your options and see whether your current structure is working in your favor. If you're unsure whether it's time to make a change, reach out — we'd be happy to walk through the numbers with you.

At M. Hughes, CPA & Company, LLC, we help businesses across Warren, Bristol, Barrington, and the South Coast of Massachusetts understand their numbers before the calendar year closes. If you’re ready to run a projection or want guidance on your next steps, we’re here to help.
