First elected in 2016, and re-elected in 2020, I am honored to serve as your BART Board Director representing District 1. District 1 includes all cities along the I-680 corridor from San Ramon to Martinez, along with Clayton, Concord south of downtown, and Lafayette north of Hwy 24. BART has a lot of work to do to achieve that mission. It has been criticized for years as it fell into a state of di
srepair as reinvestment in the infrastructure languished and it seemed like no one cared about the rider. The 2020 pandemic devastated ridership to just 13% by the end of the year. My mission for BART: Achieve BART's mission in a fiscally responsible way using common sense and prudent judgement, focusing on the most critical priorities first:
1. Safety of the customers, workers and the general public.
2. Fiscal stability of both the operating and capital projects budgets, considered collectively.
3. Accountability and transparency to the Taxpayers and BART Customers.
4. Rebuilding core Infrastructure and train car replacement. Every issue presented to me will be met with the following questions:
1. Does it materially improve safety?
2. Does it materially improve our service?
3. Is there a material cost benefit without detriment to one of the top 5 priorities above?
4. Does it keep the trains running on time?
5. Does it improve our infrastructure replacement program? I will periodically post information here related to San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit... BART.
