Scammers often target older adults, attempting to steal personal information through phone calls, emails or text messages pretending to be from the or other government agencies. During Older Americans Month, the IRS would like to remind you that we will NEVER:
• Threaten to involve local police or other law enforcement agencies
• Pressure for immediate action
• Demand immediate payment by wire transfer, gift cards or cryptocurrency
• Ask for credit, debit or gift card numbers over the phone.

Clients and friends - please pass the word on an existing scam - an individual in Waco was an unfortunate victim. A call is made from a con artist who claims to be an IRS or Treasury Agent. He/she states that your accounts have been targeted by criminals and the funds need to be moved to an IRS Lockbox or a Treasury Account. The individual in Waco lost $40,000-$60,000. A gentleman in Michigan lost $1,000,000.
