Florida Sales Tax Update - effective October 1, 2025, the state sales tax imposed on rent or license fees for the use of real property (commercial rentals) under section (s.) Florida Statutes, (F.S.) is repealed.

Sales tax still applies to transient rentals, parking or storage spaces for motor vehicles in parking lots or garages, docking or storage spaces for boats in boat docks or marinas, and tie-down or storage space for aircrafts at airports.

Hurricane Debby provides a third year of IRS extensions for returns due after August 1, 2024. Payments due prior to August 1, 2024 are still due, but quarterly estimates dues after August 1, 2024 are extended to February 5, 2025.

A federal district court in Alabama held that the Corporate Transparency Act, which requires the reporting of beneficial ownership information by businesses is unconstitutional. This is sure to move up the court system, but late fees for "willful violation" runs $591 per day up to $10,000.
