✅ You save approximately $22 in federal income taxes
❌ You're still out $78!

The exact tax savings depend on your situation, but here's the point:

A tax deduction reduces your taxable income. It doesn't reimburse you for your purchase.

Before making that big purchase to "save on taxes," ask yourself whether it's something your business actually needs.

Here’s a bookkeeping mistake that can quietly distort your business finances: treating owner draws or shareholder distributions like business expenses.

When an owner takes money out of the business, record it as an owner draw, shareholder distribution, or equity transaction—not as an expense on the profit and loss statement.

Why does this distinction matter?

Recording draws or distributions as expenses can lead to:

✅ Lower reported profit
✅ Incorrect expense totals
✅ Messy financial statements
✅ Confusing tax-planning numbers
✅ More cleanup later

Business expenses reflect the cost of running the business. Owner draws and distributions reflect money taken out for personal use. Keeping those transactions separate gives you a clearer picture of how your business is actually performing.
