A common online security tool is now being used in a new type of scam.

Cybercriminals are increasingly using fake CAPTCHA prompts — the familiar “I’m not a robot” checks — to trick users into taking actions that can compromise their devices.

Instead of a simple verification, these prompts may ask users to click “Allow,” enable notifications, or follow additional steps that can lead to persistent pop-ups, phishing attempts, or unwanted software.

These scams often appear through ads, suspicious links, or redirected web pages, making them harder to spot at first glance.

Security experts note that legitimate CAPTCHA tests do not require enabling notifications, downloading files, or entering system commands — making those requests a potential red flag.

As these tactics evolve, staying cautious when interacting with unexpected prompts can help reduce exposure to online threats.

Today we remember the bravery of our first responders and the enduring spirit of our nation. We honor the lives lost and the families who carry their memory forward. Let’s stand together in reflection and gratitude.

Never Forget.

Two people can have the exact same investments and pay completely different amounts in taxes.

Not because of performance, but because of how their money is positioned.

We operate in a progressive tax system.

Which means not all dollars are taxed the same.

The last dollar you earn is often taxed at a higher rate than the first.

Yet many people save without thinking about where their money is going:

Pre-tax accounts
Roth accounts
Taxable accounts

Over time, that lack of strategy can limit flexibility and create unnecessary tax burdens in retirement.

Tax efficiency is not about avoiding taxes. It’s about being intentional.

Tax diversification gives you options:

Where to pull income from
When to recognize income
How to manage your tax bracket year to year

That flexibility can make a very meaningful difference over time.

Because it’s not just about how much you make. It’s about how much you actually keep.

Retirement is not a math problem.

You can have enough money and still feel uncomfortable walking away from work.

Because retirement is not just about income.

It’s about identity, routine, purpose, and control.

I’ve seen people delay retirement for years, not because they couldn’t afford to retire, but because they couldn’t emotionally picture what life would look like without work.

And I’ve seen others retire confidently with less wealth because they had a vision for the next chapter of life.

The financial side matters., but the emotional side matters just as much.

A good retirement plan should prepare someone both financially and personally.

Most people focus on the wrong financial risks.

They worry about stock market declines but ignore the impact of overspending for decades.

They fear short-term volatility but don’t think about how inflation quietly erodes purchasing power over time.

They obsess over finding the “best investment” while avoiding important conversations around insurance, taxes, healthcare, retirement income, or estate planning.

The biggest financial risks are often not sudden.

They’re slow.

Quiet.

And ignored for years.

Good financial planning is not about predicting the future perfectly.

It’s about preparing for the risks people don’t always see coming.

That is the creation of long-term financial stability.

Nobody gets to the end of life wishing they spent more time staring at account balances.

The goal is not simply to retire with the most money.

It’s to build a life where you can actually enjoy it along the way.

Time with family
Experiences with the people you love
Being present for your kids and grandkids
Taking the trip
Leaving work a little earlier
Creating memories while health and time are still on your side

Too many people delay living because they’re so focused on accumulating.

No doubt, planning for the future matters.

But a good financial plan should also give you permission to enjoy life today without constantly wondering if you’re making a mistake.

That’s the kind of balance thoughtful financial planning is designed to support.

Some people are “house rich” and financially strapped.

A paid-off home can absolutely be a blessing.

But I’ve also seen it quietly create stress for retirees who didn’t expect it.

Property taxes rise.

Maintenance never stops.

Insurance costs increase.

Suddenly, a large portion of someone’s wealth is tied up in an asset that doesn’t generate income or improve cash flow.

A paid-off mortgage is not the same thing as financial freedom.

Real financial security comes from flexibility, liquidity, and having options as life changes.

It’s a much different conversation than just having the mortgage paid off.

“Because no one ever said, ‘I want less money.’”

It’s a phrase I’ve used for years when talking with clients about planning, investing, and long-term decision making.

Not because money is everything.

But because money creates options.

Options to retire when you want.
Options to help children or grandchildren.
Options during unexpected health events.
Options to travel, give, slow down, or simply reduce stress.

The interesting part is that most people don’t actually want “more stuff.”

What they really want is more freedom.
More flexibility.
More security.
More peace of mind.

That’s why good financial planning is rarely about chasing the highest number possible.

It’s about creating a life where money supports your goals instead of controlling your decisions.

Because at the end of the day, financial freedom is really about the ability to have choices.
