🚨 Important Update from the IRS & U.S. Treasury 🚨

Starting September 30, 2025, the federal government will no longer issue paper checks for most payments—including IRS tax refunds.

✅ Refunds and payments will be required to be sent electronically (direct deposit, prepaid debit card, or digital wallet).
✅ Paper checks mailed to the IRS for payment will not be accepted after this date.
✅ Limited exceptions may apply, but most taxpayers need to prepare now.

📌 This change comes directly from Executive Order 14247 and official Treasury/IRS guidance. You can read more here:

⚡ Action Step: If you (or your clients) still rely on paper checks, set up direct deposit or another electronic option as soon as possible to avoid refund/payment delays.

📢 Marketplace Insurance & Tax Filing: What You Need to Know!

If you had Marketplace health insurance in 2023, here’s how it impacts your taxes:

✅ Form 1095-A: The Marketplace will send you this form by January 31, 2024. It includes details about your coverage and any Premium Tax Credit (PTC) you received.

✅ Reconciling the Premium Tax Credit:
• If you received an advance Premium Tax Credit, you must reconcile it with your actual income when filing your taxes.
• If your income was lower than estimated, you might receive an additional credit.
• If your income was higher, you may need to repay some or all of the credit.

✅ Required for Filing: Make sure you have your Form 1095-A before you file! It’s needed to complete Form 8962 for the Premium Tax Credit.

📌 Tip: Failing to reconcile your PTC could delay your refund or prevent you from qualifying for credits in the future.

🚨 IRS Announcement: Special Payments Issued Through January for Over 1 Million Taxpayers 🚨

The IRS has confirmed that special payments will be issued through January 2024 to more than 1 million taxpayers who were eligible for the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit but did not claim it on their 2021 tax return.

What Are These Payments?

These payments are essentially the third stimulus check that many missed out on in 2021. If you didn’t receive this payment or didn’t claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2021 taxes, the IRS is now working to send you the money you’re entitled to.

How Much Could You Receive?

Eligible taxpayers could receive:
💵 Up to $1,400 per person (including dependents claimed on your 2021 return).

For example:
• A single taxpayer with no dependents could receive $1,400.
• A married couple filing jointly with two children could receive $5,600.

How Will Payments Be Sent?

The IRS will send these payments automatically:
• Direct Deposit if you have a valid bank account on file.
• Paper Checks by mail if no bank account is listed.

What Should You Do?
• If you filed your 2021 tax return, there’s nothing you need to do. The IRS will calculate and send the payment if you’re eligible.
• If you did not file a 2021 tax return, it’s not too late! File as soon as possible to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit before the statute of limitations expires.

Key Dates

Payments will continue to be issued through January 2024, so check your bank account and mailbox in the coming weeks.
