Eric Ratliff

Eric Ratliff Owner/Dad/Independent Financial Advisor/CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® I'm just a person like you, always working to be successful in all areas of life. Why?

My goals are to be a good Dad, Husband, friend, colleague, business owner and trusted advisor to my clients. Also like you, I'm not perfect and nor do I expect that of anyone. Trust is earned over time and I believe if I can do my best for others, the rest will fall into place for me and my family. I'm fortunate to have 20+ years of experience in providing advice and aspire to be here for the next

20+ years, God willing. So much has changed for me personally and throughout my career and I have no doubt there will be changes in the future. Since advisors often ask clients to make financial changes, I believe we as advisors should also be willing to make changes, so long as it's a mutually beneficial for all parties. So in May, 2022, I made the decision to leave the comfort of a successful practice along with a great income to start my own business. I grew tired of business models and sales goals that prioritized gaining new clients and assets over those who had already decided to work with me. Being independent allows me to limit the number of clients I serve while providing customized advice and solutions to individuals, families and business owners. Our service model is tailored to client's unique needs and goals, not the other way around.

Anniversaries have a way of grounding us.

This week marks both the 3rd anniversary of my sister’s passing and my wedding anniversary — celebrated 15 years ago in Jamaica, which just endured Hurricane Melissa. It’s a reminder that anniversaries can bring both joy and sorrow, celebration and reflection.

In many ways, financial planning is similar. We look back to understand where we’ve been, acknowledge both the good and the hard seasons, and plan ahead with lessons learned and purpose. Life doesn’t always follow a predictable forecast — there are calm stretches and unexpected storms — but thoughtful planning helps us navigate both with resilience and perspective.

Here’s to remembering, appreciating, and continuing forward — in life and in planning — with gratitude for the journey and readiness for whatever comes next.

My Grandfather turned 91 in October and I took a day out of the office to take him to lunch. What a great day it was, just us, driving around and visiting some of his favorite places.

Afterward, I gave him this flag. These wooden flags are made and donated to Veterans by Flags for Vets during Michigan football home games. Such a cool tradition!

To all of those who served and to those who continue to serve our great nation, Thank You.

Edit: How'd I get the flag? My bid at Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson's golf outing won! For those looking to give back, this is a well done event.

I had the incredible opportunity to be a sponsor in support of The Boys and Girls Club this week!

Spending time outside of the office with clients, friends and family was a major highlight. Oh yea...we also got to meet Detroit Lions star wide receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown! 🦁

Thank You Lynn, Charles and Tristan w/ El Charro's & Remax, Keith, Natalie and Gina w/ RecycleMax, my Wife, Jillian in her custom made sweatshirt by Small Town Strong Shop, and last but not least, my favorite Sister-In-Law, Megan for coming out to bowl with me!

I'd also like to give a shout out to Clark Genau and the team at Vibrancy21 and of course, Amon-Ra St. Brown for taking the time to chat and take pictures with your fans.

This is consistency at work. Scottie didn't change anything other than his clothes. He trusted his plan and process, which paid huge dividends during the most stressful final round.

This little cheerleader turned 9 today so being a Financial Planner, I pull her 529 account up to see where we're at since she's half way there. 108 monthly contributions since she was born and today, 40% of the balance is from growth. All of which can be used tax-free for higher education expenses with state tax deductions on the contributions.
