For those outside Utah, we’re happy to refer you to a qualified professional in your area.
**9. Do you accept clients during the last week of the tax filing deadline?**
We do not accept new tax preparation clients in the final week before the filing deadline (or the final two weeks for S Corps and Partner LLCs) unless they have already filed an IRS extension and received approval. Additionally, we do not accept late documentation or deposits from existing clients who have signed a contract with us. Failure to submit the required documents and/or pay the minimum agreed deposit by the deadline violates our contract terms. We only file extensions on behalf of clients if the extension is required on our end, is not due to the client's fault, and has been pre-approved with the client if they are an existing client. To qualify for tax preparation services during a filing season during our blackout week(s), clients must meet one of the following criteria:
- They have filed an IRS extension and received approval.
- They have requested our services before our cutoff date: April 8th (or as adjusted by the government) for individuals, or March 3rd (or the 3rd of the third month following the company’s fiscal year-end) for S Corps and Partner LLCs. In addition to the cutoff date, the request must be submitted no later than one hour before the close of business (8 PM MT).
- If they have signed a contract with us before the deadline, they must submit all required documentation by the applicable deadline—either at least seven (7) days before the tax return deadline or within five (5) days of signing the contract, whichever comes first. Anyone who has not filed an extension, has not requested services before our cutoff date and time, or has not submitted the required documentation/deposit by the stated deadlines will not be accepted as a new client for that tax season. If an existing client fails to meet these requirements, their contract will be canceled, and they will be notified. Their contract cannot be renewed unless they obtain an approved IRS extension.
**10. We do not currently offer services for C Corps due to our company's size limitations and the complexities involved. However, we plan to serve these clients in the future, though the timeline is yet to be determined.
**11. What are the normal deadlines for filing tax returns (without extensions) for each filing type?
-Individual Tax Filer:
The deadline for individual tax returns is April 15 each year. If this date falls on a weekend or holiday, the
deadline is extended to the next business day.
-Sole Proprietor / LLC as a Sole Proprietor:
For sole proprietors or LLCs taxed as sole proprietors, the deadline is also April 15 each year. This applies unless
the business has an extension, in which case the deadline would be extended to October 15. If this date falls on a
weekend or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next business day.
-Partnered LLC:
The deadline for a partnership return, which includes a partnered LLC, is March 15 each year. If an extension is
filed, the deadline is typically extended to September 15. If this date falls on a weekend or holiday, the
deadline is extended to the next business day.
-S Corporation:
S Corps must file by March 15 each year. If an extension is filed, the deadline is extended to September 15. If an
S Corp has a different fiscal year, the deadline is the 15th day of the 3rd month following the end of their fiscal
year. If this date falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next business day.
-C Corporation:
C Corporations are required to file by April 15 for those whose fiscal year ends on December 31. For C
Corporations with a fiscal year other than December 31, the deadline is the 15th day of the fourth month after
the end of the fiscal year. If an extension is filed, the deadline is extended by six months. If this date falls on a
weekend or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next business day. These are the standard filing deadlines without extensions. If an extension is filed, the deadlines are generally extended by six months (except for C Corps, which may vary depending on their fiscal year).
