The is a great story about a local veteran running an ultra marathon to raise money to help veterans who are struggling with mental health issues. Also, proud to say he’s my son.

Doug LaFollett, a Van Alstyne, Texas native and Navy veteran will be taking part in the Lake McMurtry Run in Stillwater, Oklahoma. All the money he raises leading up to his 62-mile ultramarathon will be directly supporting VETS.

“I’ve just seen over the last few years who are struggling with mental health issues, and I just want to be a positive example for the veteran community to show that even though you might be struggling, you can still do great things,” LaFollett said.

If you were eligible but did not receive your check, you can claim a Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 tax return.

If you didn't receive your Economic Impact Payment, you might be able to claim it with your 2020 Federal income tax return. If you didn’t receive a payment, or your payment was less than $1,200 ($2,400 if married filing jointly for 2019 or 2018) plus $500 for each qualifying child you had in 2020, you can claim the Recovery Rebate Credit.

This is important legislation. Small businesses have suffered during this pandemic. Paying taxes on the loan that kept many people employed by a small business during this crisis would be yet another blow to the owners!

We are proud to welcome our newest staff members, Mattie Atkins and Priscilla Clark. Both are working on their BBS in Accounting from Texas A&M University-Commerce as part of the Honors Program. Mattie joined the firm in October 2019 and will graduate with her degree in May 2021. Priscilla joined the firm in April 2020 and will graduate with her degree in May 2022.
