The IRS added a brand new form this year — and your preparer might not know it exists.

It's called Schedule 1-A. And it could mean hundreds — or thousands — of dollars back in your pocket.

Here's what it covers:

💡 No Tax on Tips — If you earned tips in 2025, up to $25,000 is now excluded from federal income tax. This is brand new from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

💡 No Tax on Overtime — Up to $12,500 in overtime pay is also now excluded.

These changes took effect for the 2025 tax year. That means your 2025 return — due April 15 — should reflect them.

Did yours?

If you filed already: you may need to amend. If you haven't filed yet: we need to talk before April 15.

⚠️ You have 12 days before the IRS deadline — and most people are leaving money on the table.

Here's what to double-check before April 15:

✅ 1. Did you claim No Tax on Tips? (New Schedule 1-A — up to $25,000 excluded)
✅ 2. Did you claim No Tax on Overtime? (Also on Schedule 1-A — up to $12,500)
✅ 3. Did you claim the enhanced Senior Deduction? ($6,000 extra if you're 65+)
✅ 4. Self-employed? Your Q1 estimated payment is also due April 15.
✅ 5. Did you miss a deduction? You can still amend — but file on time FIRST.

The IRS isn't going to remind you about these. Your preparer might not know they exist.

That's what FFS Taxes is here for. 💼

Here are 3 things to do TODAY:

✅ 2. Check if you have unclaimed refunds — the IRS says 1.3 MILLION people do

4 in 10 taxpayers are missing brand new 2026 deductions that could mean up to $775 more back in their pocket. Are you one of them?

The IRS confirmed these deductions for this filing season — and most preparers haven't even told their clients about them:

💰 TIP INCOME DEDUCTION — If you earned tips at a restaurant, hotel, or service job in 2025, a portion of that income may now be deductible. This is NEW.

💰 OVERTIME PAY DEDUCTION — Hourly workers who earned overtime in 2025 may be eligible to deduct a portion. Check your W-2 if you had significant overtime hours.

💰 CAR LOAN INTEREST DEDUCTION — Auto loan interest is back on the table for certain filers. If you purchased a vehicle and use it for work or your business, this is worth reviewing.

💰 SENIOR BONUS DEDUCTION — If you or a family member is 65+, there's an enhanced standard deduction available this year. Make sure you're claiming it.

These aren't credits — they're deductions, which means they reduce your taxable income directly.

The difference between a preparer who knows these and one who doesn't could be hundreds of dollars out of your pocket.

April 15 is 18 days away. If you haven't filed yet — or you want a second opinion on a return that's already been submitted — reach out.

Starting Sunday March 30th, another wave of tax refunds is hitting bank accounts.

But here's what your preparer might not be telling you: if your transcript shows a 570 code — that means your refund is on hold. And if you also see a 971 code with a CP05 notice, the IRS is reviewing your return and can take up to 60 days.

Here's what you should do right now:

✅ Check Where's My Refund or the IRS2Go app daily — updates post overnight
✅ Make sure your direct deposit info is correct — the IRS is phasing out paper checks in 2026, so if you don't have a bank account on file, your refund could be delayed
✅ Do NOT call the IRS until AFTER the review window passes — hold times are brutal and they won't give you new info yet
✅ If you haven't filed yet, April 15 is 18 days away — don't wait until the last week

A 570 code doesn't always mean something is wrong. But it does mean your refund won't move until it's resolved — and you need someone who knows how to read these transcripts.

At FFS Taxes, we walk every client through their IRS codes, refund status, and next steps. No guessing. No anxiety.
