As of 2026, only eight states continue to tax Social Security benefits: Colorado, Connecticut, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Utah, and Vermont. All other states, plus Washington D.C., either have no state income tax or completely exempt Social Security from state taxes.

We have officially moved out of our office. This office served the community since 1990.

2026 is the start of a new office being built on our property. In the meantime we will be working from our home. January 1, 2027 we hope to be in our new office and ready for the new chapter. Call to schedule an appointment and get our address.

April 16th, 2026 our office will be relocating from the 27780 Jefferson office it has been in since the early 1990's in excess of 30 years... It's bitter sweet. We will be relocating to our 5 acre Temecula Wine Country home into a mobile office being delivered today. We look forward to our new adventure 😀.

For the 2026 tax year, the IRS has increased the reporting threshold for Form 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC from $600 to $2,000 for payments made to independent contractors and vendors. This threshold will be adjusted for inflation starting in 2027. The 1099-K threshold reverts to a higher, original standard.

We've been impacted by yet another delay. The internet outage at our office, caused by Frontier by Verizon's service disruption, continues. Regrettably, the replacement circuit board that arrived yesterday was found to be defective. With VOIP phones, this lack of internet connectivity severely hampers our ability to operate effectively. Although our tax season has started on a challenging note, we will continue to navigate these difficulties with resilience.
