🎓 Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

If you or your dependent recently graduated college, don’t forget to claim any education credits you may qualify for on your tax return. You’ll want to keep your Form 1098-T from your college/university - it could help you claim valuable tax savings!
Be sure to track your qualified education expenses and save your receipts, including tuition, required books, supplies, and certain equipment that may be required for your courses. In some situations, computers may qualify if required for enrollment or attendance.

The American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC) may be available for the first 4 years of higher education, and the Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC) may help with future college, graduate school, or job skill courses.

Mandy and Gillian both had a great time at the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP)'s Annual Convention last week for continuing education! Mandy, who also serves as Chapter President, even taught a class on “Overlooked Tax Breaks.” We’re excited to put all this new knowledge to work for our clients!

MI UPDATE: Michigan Treasury has confirmed that some “Notice of Adjustment” letters sent in April were issued in error.

If you recently received an unexpected notice, refund check, or balance due letter from the State of Michigan, Treasury is actively working to resolve the issue, and updated notices are currently in the process of being mailed to affected taxpayers.
