Today we recognize . On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. That delay is part of the history too, and it's worth sitting with.

Juneteenth is a day of reflection, of celebration, and of acknowledgment that freedom delayed is its own kind of story.

Today our team had the privilege of doing a Blind Friendly Business training with Lighthouse BigBend right here in Tallahassee. We learned how to properly guide someone with vision loss through our space, how to communicate with care and respect, and we each got to experience simulation goggles that give you a real sense of what navigating daily life with vision impairment looks like.

Being a welcoming space for everyone isn't just something we say. It's something we want to keep working toward every day. We're grateful to the Lighthouse of the Big Bend team for bringing this training to us and for the incredible work they do for our community.

Adam and Jennie are back from San Antonio! 🌞 Last week they attended the Tax Retreat, and if you know Adam, you know this one is personal. He serves on the executive committee that helps bring this event to life each year.

What makes the Tax Retreat special isn't the sessions or the speakers, though those are great too. It's the fact that it was built around belonging, highlighting diverse voices, and creating real community.
