🎒 Get Ready, Ohio! Sales Tax Holiday is BACK! 🛍️
Mark your calendars—from 12:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, the state of Ohio is offering a TWO‑WEEK tax‑free shopping spree on qualifying items priced at $500 or less.
🛒 What’s included?
Most tangible personal property items sold in‑store or online (if paid during the exemption window), such as school supplies, clothing, electronics, books, furniture, kitchenware, décor, sporting goods, even dine‑in food and beverages—so long as each individual item costs $500 or less.
❌ What’s excluded?
Motor vehicles, watercraft/engines, alcohol, to***co, v***r products, and items containing ma*****na are still taxable—regardless of price.
💰 How much can you save?
Ohio’s base sales tax is 5.75%, and when combined with local taxes, the total can reach up to around 8% in places like Cuyahoga County. So on a $500 qualifying item, you could save up to $40 in tax.
📝 Bonus tips for shoppers:
Online orders qualify if ordered and paid for during the holiday, even if delivery happens later.
Discounts/coupons that push item cost below $500 still qualify.
Layaway or pick-up of items during the period also qualifies for exemption—even if item arrives later.
