December 2021. We are closed until January for Christmas and to complete our continuing education requirements.

We will not be doing appointments again this upcoming tax season . Please drop off all of your documents at our office . We have a small Dropbox by front door and a larger Dropbox 2 doors down to the left. We will call you with questions and when completed.

Our office will reopen the week of January 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

To Our Valued Clients, Neighbors & Friends,

For the safety of our clients & staff, we will be completing our tax preparations without appointments this tax season. We are requesting your tax documents be delivered to us by mail, electronically or dropped off. Whichever method works best for you…. We will confirm receipt.

By Mail: 1940 S Greeley St., Suite 102, Stillwater MN 55082
By Drop-off: Use our drop-off slot at our office. The drop slot is located two doors down the hall from our front door and is clearly labeled. Please make sure your papers are secure inside an envelope. This is available during normal business hours.
By OnlinePortal: Your tax forms can be submitted through our secure file online portal that can be found on our website: RosenbushClark.com. We do request that you scan and upload all papers into one or two files instead of separate files for each document. If you do not already have an online portal account with us, call our office and we will set one up for you.

We will prepare tax returns in order received. Our goal is to complete your tax return within two weeks of receipt. In order for us to meet this goal, please make sure all of your tax forms and completed worksheets are included. Missing information will delay your tax return.
While working on your tax return, we will contact you to go over everything and answer any questions you may have. We will then be able to complete your tax return and submit it to you for your review and signatures prior to e-filing.

Please look for our itemizer worksheets to be mailed/emailed to you during the next couple of weeks. It is important that you complete it and include with your tax documents. This itemizer is an important tool to be sure that we are accurately preparing your return. Our commitment is to have the most efficient, secure and accurate system possible. Together we will make sure nothing is overlooked.

At this time, we are not scheduling person to person appointments for the upcoming tax season, while we closely monitor the Covid situation. Please watch for our client letter coming in the next few weeks for more information as to how we will efficiently & safely prepare your tax returns.

As you may have heard in very recent news, there will be significant changes to our tax code for 2018. Because of these changes, we want to let you know there are certain things you can do during the last few days of 2017 to possibly save tax dollars.

The following items are still deductible under new tax law but because of increased standard deductions and other limitations, many taxpayers will no longer receive a tax benefit for them. If you normally itemize your deductions, it may benefit you to pre-pay these by December 29th, 2017 if possible:

Mortgage Payments. Make all January payments in December of this year if possible.
Personal Property Taxes. Pay your 2018 property taxes at your local county government center by December 29th, 2017 if possible. .
Charitable Contributions
Medical Expenses
If you are making State quarterly estimated income tax payments, pay the 4th quarter installment by December 29th, 2017.

The following items will no longer be deductible in 2018. It could benefit you to pre-pay these expenses in December, 2017 if possible:

Employee business expenses. This includes union dues, tools, equipment. Please note, this pertains to employees only. Business owners can still take these deductions.
Investment expenses and advisor fees.
Mortgage interest on 2nd mortgages and 2nd homes. (Pay January payment in December, 2017) This does not include rental properties.

If you have any questions as to how to pay any of these items early, please contact the necessary agencies involved.

The purpose of this email is just to alert you to these issues. Because of the time constraint we are unable to answer everyone’s questions individually. This new tax bill is very complex and was passed so recently that unfortunately, we will not have the time to analyze your specific tax situation before the end of 2017. There is information available online. If you want to take advantage of any the above pre-payment recommendations, and are financially able, it is a good idea to do so. Prepaying these items early will benefit many clients, but not all.
