Important Update Regarding Our Availability

We wanted to let you know that John’s son and Ed’s brother, Stephen passed away suddenly on Saturday after a brief illness. During this time, they will be handling family matters and may be in and out of the office over the next few weeks. If you have a scheduled appointment, we may be reaching out to reschedule it.

We appreciate your understanding and patience, as response times may be delayed. Please know that we are still doing our best to stay on top of all client needs, and we will respond as soon as possible.

If we filed an extension for you, we still plan to work on your return before the deadline.

Today is the day! It’s April 15th and if you owe the IRS or State, your payment is due today. If you need an extension of time to file, please contact the office and we can file the extension electronically for you.

One big change this tax season is the IRS is phasing out paper refund checks. If you receive a refund and have received a paper check mailed to you from the IRS in the past, we will need your banking information this year for direct deposit of the refund. As of today, the IRS is still allowing taxpayers that owe money on the tax return to mail in a check for payment. In the future, that also will be phased out and electronic payments will have to made to pay any IRS balance due.

Tax Season is upon us and our January 2026 newsletter and checklists are on our website.

We are still awaiting guidance from the IRS but it is possible that paper refund checks may not be issued for 2025 tax returns. If you have received a paper refund check from your federal return in the past, we recommend providing your routing and account numbers to us so you can now receive a direct deposit of your refund.

IR-2025-94, Sept. 23, 2025 — The Internal Revenue Service, working with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, today announced that paper tax refund checks for individual taxpayers will be phased out beginning on Sept. 30, 2025, as required by Executive Order 14247, to the extent permitted by law.

Over the weekend our office lost power and yesterday we had to close early due to no power, heat, or running water. Today we have most of our power back but our phones and internet are down at the moment. We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working to get the situation resolved.

*Update 11/20* - We have full power restored and new lights throughout the office that were burned out due to the storm. Thank you again for your patience.
