Accountant Assistant

Summary

Devereux and Company is seeking an accountant assistant to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn new skills and assist various team members with tasks and projects as well as some daily tasks of your own. We are looking for a friendly, customer focused person to help with answering phones and greeting guests as they come through our door. In addition to a positive attitude and willingness to pitch in whenever needed, the perfect candidate will have experience with multiple computer programs and will have the ability to meticulously follow processes to ensure the highest quality output for our customers. Our fast-paced, family environment provides a balance of interesting work and friendly atmosphere.

Role and Responsibility

• Schedule and manage multiple calendars and appointments simultaneously
• Greet and assist guests
• Answer inbound telephone calls
• Maintain organized filing systems
• Assists with processing tax returns, financial statements and compliance reports in a timely manner while maintaining complete accuracy
• Assisting accountants with complex tasks to ease their workflow
• Manage projects and ensuring timely ex*****on
• Provides exceptional customer service through verbal, written and in personal interactions with clients
• Provides support entering, formatting, and printing information; organizing work, relaying messages and scheduling
• Provides support and backup as needed

Experience, Qualifications and Education

• College degree preferred; Accounting background is a plus
• Should provide high attention to detail
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks given by multiple sources
• Customer service
• Problem solving
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), ability to familiarize yourself with new software quickly
• Should be organized, able to work with minimal supervision
• Must have strong communication skills both written and verbal

The ability to talk to clients and communicate effectively is a big part of this position as you will be hands on in the financials and tax implications with our clients. This role also requires a firm understanding of current tax law. While we do prefer the comradery associated with a team that has local interactions, we also have a work from home policy.
