Today is the extended deadline for Partnership and S-Corp tax returns!

The extended deadline for individual tax returns is October 17th, so if you haven't filed yet, it's time to start the process!

We're a little more than halfway through 2022! Don't forget your quarterly payments, any adjustments or planning needed for this tax year, and/or if you filed an extension, don't forget to file your 2021 taxes :)!

Here's a "fun" one... you can't rely on what the IRS phone operators say. A taxpayer called the IRS for help with reporting their retirement income. He followed the advice of the IRS operator, which turned out to be INCORRECT. The Tax Court agreed with the IRS that he owes the tax. Bad advice from an IRS worker isn't law and does not bind the IRS or courts. Oof (Peak, TC Memo. 2021-128).

Small business owners: if you need to send out W-2s or 1099s, they need to be sent out by January 31st.

Speaking of deadlines, for 2021 tax year filings, the partnership & S-Corp filing deadline is March 15th, 2022. The individual & corporation deadline is April 18th, 2022.
