f your team for your financial life. He will work with you to determine your risk tolerance and then align your investments. He will create a comprehensive life strategy that includes retirement planning, tax mitigation, generational gifting, and financial safety. Additionally, he will coordinate with your attorney and CPA to ensure all aspects of your financial life are aligned. VestGen Wealth Partners, the firm Ted works with, manages over 5.4 billion dollars in client assets (as of 11/01/2024). Ted selectively works with client families where he can make a significant impact, allowing him to dedicate personal attention to each situation. He acts as your direct advocate, supported by a team of 13 members to bring you their best ideas. Recognizing the importance of mental preparation for retirement, Ted authored the popular Amazon book “RETIRED – What do you want to do for the next 30 years?” This book focuses on finding happiness in retirement, rather than financial aspects. Ted is very active in the local community. He is a member of the Board at Boulder Ridge Country Club, St. Catherine’s Knights of Columbus, and Sleepy Hollow Service Club. Ted graduated from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He is married to his college sweetheart, Kelly, and together they have four young adult children. He enjoys golf, playing guitar, and volunteer work. He is also an avid Chicago sports fan. Education:

One of the most common challenges I see with families is finding the balance between reducing estate tax exposure and maintaining access to assets.

A Spousal Lifetime Access Trust (SLAT) can help achieve both. When structured correctly, it moves assets out of the taxable estate while preserving the beneficiary spouse's access to distributions during their lifetime.

That said, SLATs aren't one-size-fits-all. Trustee selection, beneficiary terms, and avoiding the reciprocal trust doctrine all require careful planning.
