If you're self-employed (and not eligible for employer coverage elsewhere), you may qualify to deduct your health insurance premiums paid.
This above-the-line deduction can apply to premiums paid for yourself, your spouse, any dependents, and any of your children under age 27 at the end of the year.
And no, you don't have to itemize to qualify for this deduction!
It's not limited to just medical insurance premiums; dental and qualified long-term care insurance premiums can count too. 🩺
If you claim the Premium Tax credit, check with your tax accountant to determine the amount of your premium that's deductible.
This is the type of deduction that can help you save hundreds (or thousands) when you actually know to look for it!
