The only people to fight back against the terrorists on 9/11 were the civilian passengers of United Flight 93. Much like the Minute Men in 1775, the 40 Crew and Passengers of Flight 93 attacked the terrorists in order to save the lives of complete strangers, knowing full well this action almost certainly would result in their own death. RIP your deed is eternal.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I’m looking forward to enjoying a long, relaxing weekend with my family.

While you’re getting your fill of food, family, and fun I encourage you to reflect on 2022 — both the good and the bad. Even if 2022 wasn’t the greatest year for you, I think it’s often worth it to think positively and see if you can find a silver lining.

What are you thankful for this year?

It’s hard to believe it’s almost December already! The year will be over before we know it, and as a reminder, student loan repayments will start back up on January 1st, 2023.

Even though many doctors make a comfortable salary, you don’t want to let your loans fall by the wayside. The interest can pile up fast and can end up following you throughout the rest of your career without proper planning.

Give me a call. Let’s take advantage of the student loan freeze and start planning toward getting those loans paid off!

No matter how much you love your career as a physician, it can undoubtedly be a busy profession. I’m sure there are occasions when you wish you had just a little more spare time to do the things you love outside of your career — which makes retirement planning all the more important for physicians.

After a long but fulfilling career, you deserve to be able to live the life you want to live. Maybe you want to travel the world, maybe you envision yourself hitting the green as often as possible, or perhaps you simply want to spend as much time as possible with friends, family, and loved ones. Whatever it is, the important thing is that you enjoy it!

Schedule a call with me, and let’s work toward your dream retirement together!

No matter how great an employment contract looks, it’s important to read the fine print and be prepared to negotiate before signing.

If you’re a physician being offered an employment agreement, there are a few specific conditions (some might even call them traps!) to watch out for in your contract. I’ve outlined a few of them below:

-Your start date — it can be a red flag if your employer ambiguously defers your first day longer than a year out.
-Restrictive conditions — though this may not be an issue for you early on, as you move forward in your career, you don’t want any contractual conditions that restrict you from taking on new opportunities.
-Malpractice tail coverage — sometimes employers tack this onto employment agreements as a sort of backdoor insurance policy. This could amount to a third of a year’s salary, leaving you trapped for years trying to pay it off.

Learn more about these conditions and more by reading my blog at the link below:

Did you know that Veterans Day originally began as Armistice Day?

President Woodrow Wilson originally declared November 11 as Armistice Day to commemorate the anniversary of the day the fighting ceased in World War I. Though the war technically didn’t end until the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, the armistice went into effect on November 11, 1918, effectively ending the war.

Though World War I was originally deemed “the war to end all wars,” we know today that this, unfortunately, did not turn out to be true, as World War II began 20 years later in 1939.

In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed Armistice Day into Veterans Day “in order to insure proper and widespread observance of this anniversary, all veterans, [and] all veterans' organizations.”

Since Friday is Veterans Day, I encourage you to take some time to think about and thank all the brave Americans who have dedicated their lives and careers to defending our country.

Happy Veterans Day to my fellow Veterans! Thank you for all you have done for America!

In addition to providing the best financial services we possibly can, I also take pride in our ability to foster and maintain close, personal relationships with our clients. It can be a delicate balance, but I believe it’s well worth it.

How are we able to achieve this balance?

At Redwood, we work closely with analysts, economists, strategists, and CFAs at LPL Financial’s Research Department. Utilizing their independent insights and assessments of the global economy helps us create a baseline for a client’s portfolio.

Of course, we also take into account our own perspectives when it comes to investments, but it’s always helpful to have multiple sets of eyes on a portfolio.

Working together as a team can only be beneficial for all parties involved!

Though many in the medical field find their career to be extremely rewarding, the road to becoming an established physician can be long and arduous.

The majority of your life has been spent either attending school or paying off school, so once you have those loans paid off, you might be at a loss when it comes to deciding how to best utilize your paycheck in the world of investing.

If you’re a physician looking to grow your portfolio (or start creating one altogether!), give me a call. I’d love to chat with you and figure out a plan to manage and grow those assets!
