Many of you have asked, "WHY didn't I get $2000 for each of my child?" or "Isn't the child tax credit $2000?"

You have every right to ask and to challenge and so today, I want to point out that this figure is "DEPENDENT" upon your total earned income.

If someone earns $2500 for the year and they have 5 children, it doesn't mean they will receive $10,000. The $2000 is based upon your total income earned and phases out with your income. The Child Tax Credit (CTC) is designed to give an income boost to the parents or guardians of children and other dependents. It only applies to dependents who are younger than 17. The credit is worth up to $2,000 per dependent, but your income level determines exactly much you can get.

A late-day announcement confirms the IRS will begin accepting and processing individual tax returns for the 2019 tax return filing season on January 28.

As usual, returns will be due to the IRS on April 15, according to the IRS statement. The only exception is for those filers in the District of Columbia, Maine and Massachusetts will have until April 17 due to local holidays.
