Keeping your records organized now makes next year’s taxes much easier and can save headaches if you ever need to amend a return.

So how long should you hang onto them? For most people, three to seven years is a safe bet .

A tip: upload receipts to accounting software like QuickBooks, Dext, or even a Google Drive for easy access.
