At roughly 6:30 last evening a Texas court blocked the Corporate Transparency Act nationwide. The FINCEN Beneficial Ownership reporting is no longer required if you haven't already completed the filing.

All employers need to mark their calendars that have any employees that live in the Shikellamy School District. Effective for any paychecks issued on or after July 1st of this year, the local earned income tax rate is increasing to 1.45% from 1.0% (QuickBooks users, don't forget to include the % symbol)!

As tax season starts on Monday, Jan. 24, the IRS announced it’s best for parents to watch out for and be sure to keep a mailing for their 2021 taxes called Letter 6419.

Taxpayers receiving the Advance Child Tax Credit payments should be on the look out for a letter early next year from the IRS. It will be IRS Letter 6419. If you are married, both you and your spouse will receive a letter. These letters are very important and WILL BE required to process your 2021 income tax returns! If you do not have this letter and report an incorrect amount, it will trigger a manual review of your return by the IRS and will delay any refund you are supposed to receive.

For a lot of taxpayers, the only reason that they receive a refund is a result of the Child Tax Credit. My general recommendation is for taxpayers to opt out of the advance payments that will begin on 7/15/21. Unlike the stimulus checks, if you receive more than you were eligible to receive, you will need to pay the money back. Here is the link to the IRS website:

I have received notice that anyone with health insurance purchased through the Marketplace for 2020, your Form 1095-A is available to download. The form is also mailed in late January, but with the mail this year, there could be delays. This form is required to be reported on your income tax return, failure to do so will significantly delay any refunds that you may receive.
