Student loan forgiveness in 2022 will not increase your federal taxable income, thanks to the latest American Rescue Plan that makes all student loan forgiveness tax-free. Arizona has not yet announced if it will be conforming with IRS. Arizona taxes are relatively low, assuming a taxpayer ad a tax rate of 3% that would mean a tax of $300 on 10,000 of debt forgiveness.
