While Military Appreciation Month is a time for gratitude to all who have served in our armed forces, on Memorial Day we stop and solemnly acknowledge and honor those who didn’t come home. Daughters, sons, siblings, mothers, fathers… all lost because they believed so much in America and its fundamental aspiration to goodness that they put their lives in the way of that which would harm it, its people, or other oppressed people around the world.
Let’s all rededicate ourselves on this Memorial Day to commemorating the sacrifice those Americans made by seeking to live our lives more honorably and continuing to hold our government and our leaders accountable to upholding the ideals that have given meaning to that ultimate sacrifice for the past 250+ years.
