📢 IRS Will Still Accept Paper Checks as Payments

There’s been some confusion around the IRS moving away from paper checks, so here’s a quick update:

Under Executive Order 14247, the IRS is transitioning toward electronic payments.

💰 Tax Refunds:
As of September 30, 2025, the IRS has largely stopped issuing paper refund checks. Most refunds are now sent via:
✔ Direct deposit
✔ Prepaid debit cards
✔ Approved mobile apps

If you haven’t already, it’s a good idea to provide bank account information to receive refunds electronically.

🧾 Tax Payments:
The good news — paper checks are still accepted for tax payments for now.

For 2025 tax returns filed in 2026:
• You may still mail a paper check using Form 1040-V.

For 2026 estimated tax payments:
• Paper payment vouchers (Form 1040-ES) are expected to remain available.

Mandatory electronic payments are not anticipated until 2027 or later.

🎁 GDC CPA is an official drop-off location for the Addison's Toy Chest Holiday Toy Drive! 🎄✨

We’re proud to support this incredible nonprofit, which provides new, unwrapped toys to children ages 0–18 who will be spending Christmas in the hospital. Addison’s Toy Chest also creates comfort bags for parents and caregivers facing difficult moments. 💛

November 24 through the week of December 8

When you visit our office, you’ll see the donation box right at the front of the reception desk — wrapped in festive Elmo paper and trimmed with silver tinsel. ✨

If you'd like to support beyond the holidays, Addison’s Toy Chest also accepts monetary donations all year and provides additional toy donations in July and September for Addison’s birthday.

The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) advises taxpayers to take action and make year-end tax and financial planning moves that can help prepare them for 2026, especially at tax time. Planning is even more important this year, ahead of the adoption of tax law changes effective this year and next.
