Our west coast team spent an afternoon last week learning to shape bonsai trees, and it turned into a lesson in something bigger than plants.

A Luludi Living Art instructor brought an Art of Bonsai Workshop right into the San Francisco office, and the team traded laptops for pruning shears for a few hours. Growing a bonsai takes patience and a steady hand, but it also takes the right conditions: sun, wind, room to be shaped by the elements. People aren't so different. We believe we do our best work when we're connected to each other and to what matters most.

That's the thread that ran through the workshop and the one we carry into every Client relationship. When our team is grounded and in sync, it shows up in the work we do for you.

Clients trust us to stay ahead of risks they may not see coming, and Will Tracy and Rustin McManis recently invested time to make sure sure we're doing exactly that.

Will and Rustin recently completed Charles Schwab's Fraud Fighter Academy, a four-part series covering everything from account takeover and social engineering to senior investor protection and AI-driven scams. Rather than let the learning end with the last session, the two teamed up to consolidate their notes into a full internal summary, complete with resource reviews and action items for the broader team.

Their work is already shaping conversations here at YeskeBuie, from how we think about account visibility controls to how we talk with Clients about trusted contacts and verification safeguards. It's the kind of behind-the-scenes effort Clients rarely see, but it directly supports the protection they count on us for every day.

We're grateful to Will and Rustin for bringing this knowledge back to the team and helping all of us empower people to pursue their Live Big lives with a little more peace of mind.

They say everything's bigger in Texas. Turns out that includes the learning.

YeskeBuie Financial Planners Sydney, Ryan, Kacie, and Tim spent time at FPA Gather in Dallas, TX last week, a conference built for early-career financial planners to connect, learn, and grow alongside peers shaping where this profession goes next.

We believe learning fuels potential and there's always something new to learn in our profession. It's why our team keeps showing up to gatherings like this one, trading ideas, sharpening skills, and bringing fresh thinking back to the Clients we serve every day.

Dallas gave them plenty to Learn Big about, and we can't wait to see it show up in the work ahead.

As new federal guidance continues to shape 530A accounts (aka Trump accounts), families are looking for a steady, knowledgeable voice to help them make sense of it. And Lauren Stansell, C3O at YeskeBuie, is that voice for our Clients.

Lauren was recently featured in The New York Times discussing these accounts, adding to the deep expertise she has brought to this topic since the accounts were first introduced, including her own detailed breakdown of how they work for Clients and families. Her ability to translate complex, fast-changing tax policy into clear, practical guidance is what our Clients have come to expect from her, and what a national outlet like NYT turned to her for. Lauren will share updated commentary on these accounts in this week's TheLiveBigWay Digest, so keep an eye out for more of her insight, and check out her first article on 530A Accounts here: https://yebu.com/financial-planning/seeds-of-savings-the-530a-account-explained

As the rules around these accounts continue to take shape, our Clients can rest assured their questions land with someone who has already done – and continues to do – the deep thinking. That is The YeskeBuie Way.

A call from a "friend" stranded and desperate for money. An "IRS agent" threatening arrest over unpaid taxes. A "tech support" pop-up warning that your computer has been compromised, with a number to call right now.

Protecting yourself has never mattered more. Scammers have new tools, but their tricks are decades old, built on the same psychology con artists have used for generations: urgency, authority, and a carefully constructed story designed to earn trust before it's betrayed.

Join us Wednesday, September 2 at 11:00am PT | 2:00pm ET for "Old Tools, New Tricks," a webinar facilitated by C3O Lauren Mireles featuring cybersecurity expert Perry Carpenter, KnowBe4's Chief Deception Strategist. Perry will connect the history and psychology of the con with the technology behind today's scams, giving you a framework to spot deception no matter how it's dressed up.

We are proud to share that Northern Virginia Magazine has once again named Elissa Buie and Yusuf Abugideiri among the region's top financial professionals!

This recognition means something different from most awards. Northern Virginia Magazine doesn't score portfolios or track assets. They ask financial professionals a simple question: if a close friend or family member needed help, who would you trust to handle it? Elissa and Yusuf's names keep coming up, nominated by the very peers we think so highly of in our profession.

Elissa has now appeared on this list nearly every year since 2012, and Yusuf has been named for the sixth time since 2020. Both distinctions speak to something that doesn't fade: consistent, trusted work on behalf of Clients, year after year.

Congratulations, Elissa and Yusuf! We're proud to have you both as leaders of our firm.

Backpacks are packed, dorm rooms are being set up, and for many families, back-to-school season brings a fresh wave of expenses, decisions, and routines worth revisiting, whether you're sending a kindergartener off for the first time or dropping a college student off at campus.

The back-to-school season is a natural checkpoint to pause and reflect on the financial habits shaping your family's year ahead. Are 529 contributions keeping pace with rising education costs? Is your household budget accounting for extracurriculars or a college student's living costs? And for young adults heading off on their own, is this the year they take on more responsibility for a bank account, a budget, or their first credit card?

None of these questions require an overhaul. Small, intentional adjustments now can make a meaningful difference by the time next season rolls around. And if you're not sure where to start, that's exactly the kind of question worth bringing to your financial planner - please don't hesitate to message us.

Here's to a smooth start to the school year for Clients, parents, and students alike!

Congratulations are in order: Sydney Woodward has been named an Excellence Awardee in the Financial Literacy Champion category of InvestmentNews' Women to Watch 2026 awards!

This one feels especially well-earned. Financial literacy has always been close to Sydney's heart, whether she's teaching high schoolers the basics of money through Junior Achievement, helping students in under-resourced communities learn how to build credit, or opening doors through FPA of San Francisco's Financial Planning Day, an event she's led two years running to bring free financial planning to families who need it most.

Sydney has a gift for making financial literacy feel personal, and this recognition is a reflection of just how many lives she's touched because of it.

Please join us in celebrating Sydney and this incredible, well-deserved honor! 🎉 Congratulations, Sydney. We are beyond proud to have you on our team.

This week, we're saying goodbye to our summer interns who made a real impact in a short time.

Erin Huff and Euli Toussaint joined us this summer as Financial Planning Interns in our Virginia and San Francisco offices (respectively), and, from day one, they showed up with curiosity, dedication, and a genuine care for the people they were serving. Both women close their respective internships having learned a lot, and having taught us plenty, too.

We celebrated them this week with Grub Club, because some goodbyes deserve a good meal, even better company, and maybe a little Eat Big energy.

Erin and Euli, thank you for your hard work, your fresh perspective, and the energy you brought to our team this summer. We look forward to seeing what's next on your journey.
