“I opened an LLC so I can save on taxes.” 👀

Okay, but HOW?

An LLC is a legal structure created under state law. For federal income tax purposes, its treatment depends on the number of owners and any valid tax elections.

A single-member LLC is generally disregarded for federal income tax purposes unless it elects corporate treatment.

That means simply forming the LLC doesn’t automatically change how your business profits are taxed.

And no, forming an LLC and electing S-Corp status are NOT the same thing.

Your business structure should support your businessnot just follow whatever is trending on TaxTok. 😂

Your LLC approval isn’t the finish line.

It’s the beginning. 🌱

Before worrying about every advanced tax strategy you see online, build the foundation:

Separate business and personal activity.

Get your banking organized.

Start bookkeeping early.

Understand what the business is actually earning.

Learn your tax obligations.

Then, as the business grows, evaluate whether additional tax planning or a different tax classification makes sense.

You don’t need every strategy on Day One.

You need a clean foundation on Day One.

If you timely filed an extension for your 2025 individual return, October 15 is generally your extended filing deadline.

And remember:

Extension to FILE ≠ extension to PAY.

If you still haven’t filed, now is the time to gather the missing information, finish the bookkeeping and communicate with your tax professional.

Please don’t make October 14 your document-gathering day. 😭

So I made a switch.

I invested in myself.
I got better guidance.
I gained experience.
I improved the value I provided.
I created boundaries.
I raised my prices.
And I became much more intentional about who I worked with.

And something interesting happened…

My clientele changed.

Today, I can receive a $500, $600, even $2,200+ DEPOSITS!!/payments and instead of debating my price, clients thank me for my work, appreciate my time and literally tell me, “Have a good night.” 🥹

That’s the part I’m most proud of.

Not just charging more.

Building a business where my work is valued.

So to the new tax preparer, hairstylist, notary photographer, bookkeeper, creator or ANY entrepreneur who’s afraid to raise their prices:

Being new doesn’t mean you have to stay cheap.

Keep learning. Get guidance. Become better at your craft. Provide real value.

But don’t build your entire business around trying to be affordable enough for everyone.

Sometimes you don’t need more clients.

TY2026 Tax Season is a Wrap 🎾

Ex*****on. Focus. Timing.

This season pushed me in every way tight deadlines, complex situations, and showing up consistently for every client.

But it also came with growth.

I implemented stronger systems, clearer boundaries, and more intentional workflows things I wish I had done earlier in my career.

Now it’s time to pause, reset, and refuel.

I will resume operations on April 27th to continue working on extensions and onboarding new clients.
