401(k)s and IRAs are no longer reliable retirement strategies.

It is easy to think that you have your retirement solution covered with these plans. The growth is tax-deferred, your company contributes a percentage toward them, and the contributions are conveniently taken out of your paycheck without you even noticing.

Then come the “what ifs.”

What happens if you need to use some of these funds for emergencies? There is a 10% penalty if accessed before age 59½, and then it is still taxed.

What if the market takes a steep downturn just as retirement time comes around? You will probably have to keep working until your funds recover.

Finally, what happens when your retirement savings get taxed around 30% when you retire? These are no longer viable retirement solutions.

There are strategies that grow with the market but are protected with a 0% floor when the market goes down, provide liquidity for emergencies, and can be accessed tax-free upon retirement.

Now that’s a viable retirement solution.
