Earning income from another country?

You might qualify for tax treaty benefits—but only if everything is done correctly.

Here’s what most people miss:
• It’s based on residency, not citizenship
• Not all income qualifies
• Missing forms can trigger penalties

This area gets complicated fast—and small mistakes can cost you.

If you’re unsure how your foreign income is taxed, it’s better to check early than fix it later.

Message me if you need help reviewing your situation.

Foreign-source income can create opportunity or risk. The difference often comes down to how well tax professionals understand income tax treaties. The United States has income tax treaties with many foreign countries. 100% bonus depreciation is back.
But timing can cost you.

Most people focus on when an asset is used.
Now, the purchase date matters just as much.

To qualify for 100%, the asset must be:
• Acquired after January 19, 2025
• Placed in service after January 19, 2025

Miss one—and the deduction drops.

Same asset. Same use date. Different purchase date = different tax result.

If you bought assets in early 2025, double-check before filing.

This is where returns go wrong.

The OB3 Act finally makes it permanent and restores 100% bonus depreciation. But there’s a catch. The biggest issue is the new requirement: the asset must be both acquired ...

Waiting on your tax refund?

Some taxpayers may experience delays this year if the IRS cannot process their direct deposit. The IRS has sent about 830,000 CP53E notices asking taxpayers to update their banking information.

You typically have 30 days to respond. If the information is not updated, the IRS may send a paper check, which could take up to 12 weeks.

If you receive a CP53E notice, log in to your IRS account and update your bank details to help avoid delays.https://www.sandiegotaxhelp.com/post/paper-refund-checks-may-take-longer-this-year
