We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to work mainly with our Audit Staff, with other responsibilities to be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities Include
• Performing detailed audit procedures on financial statement account balances, preparing and adjusting workpapers from clients’ trial balance
• Identifying potential management letter comments
• Researching accounting issues
• Recognizing potential problem areas in specific engagements and discusses them with engagement supervisor
• Performing other accounting, auditing, and consulting duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel
• Preparation of compiled and reviewed financial statements
• Drafting annual financial statements, including footnote disclosures
• Becoming proficient at preparing financial statements using the firm’s software programs
Qualifications
• Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or related field required; Master’s in Accounting preferred;
• Previous internship experience with a public accounting firm strongly desired
• Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles; knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Government Auditing Standards (GAS Yellow Book) and Generally Accepted Governmental Accounting Standards (GAGAS), and Non-Profit accounting Standards a big plus
• Strong computer skills including experience with Word, Excel, Adobe and Outlook
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize work volume, multi-task and meet deadlines in a professional manner
