Just because you traveled does not automatically mean the entire trip is tax deductible!

Business travel must have a clear business purpose to qualify for deductions.

Keep records for flights, hotels, mileage, parking, tolls, meals, and other business related expenses. Save receipts, mileage logs, and document who you met with and the purpose of the trip.

If your travel includes both personal and business activities, only the business related portion may qualify.

Change your thinking, change your life.

It sounds like a bumper sticker. It isn't.

Beliefs aren't facts. They're tools. And most of the tools you've been handed — about willpower, about what kind of person you are, about what's possible for you — were installed by accident. A parent said something offhand. A teacher made a face. A study you read in college turned out, years later, to be wrong.

The willpower one is my favorite example. For twenty years, Roy Baumeister's research convinced the field that willpower was a finite resource, depleted by use. Then Carol Dweck went back and re-ran the experiment. The depletion effect only showed up in people who already believed willpower was limited. The belief was doing the work, not the biology.

Which means the belief is the lever.

Notice the thought that's running you. Ask whether it's actually true. Try on a better one and see what changes. That's what beliefs are for — not to be defended, but to be used, and replaced when they stop working.
