The Internal Revenue Service has announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in the entire state of Louisiana, affected by Tropical Storm Francine that began on Sept. 10, 2024. The tax relief postpones various tax filing and payment deadlines that occurred from Sept. 10, 2024, through Feb. 3, 2025 (postponement period). As a result, affected individuals and businesses will have until Feb. 3, 2025, to file returns and pay any taxes that were originally due during this period.

Those receiving Social Security benefits who don’t typically file a tax return will not need to file an abbreviated (simple) tax return to receive their stimulus payment. The IRS will use information from Forms SSA-1099 and RRB-1099 to generate payments for these individuals. The payment will be sent as a direct deposit or check, however they normally receive their benefits.

Due to our current Covid-19 situation spread closer to home, I have decided to discontinue all in person appointments until further notice. We do have multiple options available to continue with your tax preparation needs. Should you want to mail your documents, please send them to 209 E. Louisiana Ave, Ruston, LA 71270. You can also fax them to 888.688.4183 or email them to [email protected]. If you used my secure file portal in the past you can use that again this year as well. If you haven’t used the portal and would like to, please get your email address to me. Once I receive your documents, I will work up your tax return and call you with the results or any questions.

Also the tax filing deadline and payment deadline has been extended to July 15th. However should we not complete your return by then - no matter the reason- I will put you on extension.
