The CNN Business Fear & Greed Index is a valuable tool for understanding stock market movements and assessing whether stocks are fairly priced. Excessive fear tends to drive down share prices, while too much greed can have the opposite effect.

Calculated from seven different indicators, the Fear & Greed Index measures various aspects of stock market behavior. These indicators include market momentum, stock price strength, stock price breadth, put and call options, junk bond demand, market volatility, and safe haven demand. The index tracks the deviation of these indicators from their averages, giving each equal weighting. The resulting score ranges from 0 to 100, with 100 indicating maximum greediness and 0 representing maximum fear.

The Fear & Greed Index is calculated as soon as new data becomes available, providing timely insights into market sentiment.
