As another decade comes to an end, and we greet a new one, always remember to be alert as there is always some conman looking to scam.

This year, be specially careful as how you write the year, when you need to date a check or another document. Write the full year, 2020.

If you write only "20", you will be giving some scammer or fraudster the opportunity to change the date to any year in the century by adding another 2 digits e.g. "20xx", if it is to their advantage.

Don't give them the chance.

Have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2020.

Do you or any of your dependents have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) ? Are the middle digits 83, 84, 85, 86 or 87 ? Your ITIN will expire on December 31, 2019 and cannot be used to file a return after that date, unless you renew it.

All ITINs not used on a federal tax return at least once in the last three years will also expire.

A new tax on v***r products sold in New York, comes into effect from today, December 1, 2019.

If you are a seller of v***r products, you need to register as a v***r product dealer and obtain authorization from New York State to sell the v***r products.

Effective December 1, 2019, a new 20% supplemental sales tax will apply to retail sales of v***r products in New York.
