We provide all levels of bookkeeping and payroll services, and prepare both individual and business tax returns. We also work with several non-profit organizations to prepare their annual filings and obtain their initial approval as a non-profit organization.

If you got advanced child tax credit for 2021, you should receive a letter from IRS confirming how much you got. If you received the money jointly with your spouse, you should get TWO letters - one for each of you. Please bring that letter with the other information when you have your taxes done. 👍

Here at Nancy H. Lynch & Associates, Inc., we care about the welfare of our customers and employees. In this developing situation, we want to do everything possible to prevent the spread of this illness.

At this point in time, we do not anticipate closing our office unless ordered to do so. However, in an effort to minimize contact and potential spread of this devastating illness, we recommend that as much as possible our clients use our drop box to give us the information for preparation of a complete and accurate tax return. Please put all your information in a sealed envelope and call to let us know you are putting it in the box. Alternatively, you can fax or email your paperwork if that is an option you have available. Our fax number is 540-483-3571, and our email is [email protected]/ If you have questions, we will be happy to call you before we complete your return to discuss any issues that may be different for you this year.

When your return is ready, we will call to notify you. Upon arrival at the office, call us, we will bring the
return out to your car to minimize contact with staff and other customers.

This is an unusual situation that I have no experience with. I want to provide service at a high level to our customers, but I also want to do everything possible to protect both our customers and our employees. Please help me to help you.

By now, I hope everyone is aware that tax law changes will affect almost everyone this year. If you have been itemizing your deductions, most likely you will no longer be able to do so. If you own a business, you will most likely receive a deduction from your business income reported on your individual tax return. Regulations are still being issued and not everything is clear about the new law, but one thing is clear - everybody's taxes will be different this year. New withholding tables went into effect this year as well to give more money back during the year instead of when you file your return. If you are not sure that enough is being withheld, please call for an appointment to check your withholding against your particular tax situation. We will be glad to work with you on this.

Thursday, February 1, 2018 Nancy Lee Hall Lynch went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ nine months after the death of her beloved husband P. L. Lynch, Jr. She is survived by her children Gail Abbott (John), Lester Lynch (Beth) and Brenda Taylor (John Mark, deceased.) Her grandchildren, Ryan Abbott, Conner Lynch, Cameron Lynch, Laura Haerer and Timmy Haerer were her pride and joy, and they adored her. She is also survived by her sisters, Betsy Ferguson (Ray), Elaine Chitwood, her brother Bill Hall and her sisters-in-law Alice Hall and Eleanor Woody as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Van Buren and Mary Hall, and brothers Nelson Hall, Wallace Hall and V.B. Hall, Jr. Nancy worked in bookkeeping and tax preparation since graduating in the first class to graduate from Franklin County High School. She was treasurer for the town of Rocky Mount on two separate occasions. She opened the first H&R Block office in Franklin and Bedford counties before her second stint as treasurer. When she retired from the town, she gradually increased her bookkeeping and tax preparation business until she incorporated as Nancy H. Lynch & Associates, Inc. She was the best cheerleader her grandchildren ever had, and a source of strength for her children. Services will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Flora Funeral Service with Rev. Bradley Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow in Redwood UMC cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday February 3 at Flora Funeral Service.

The deadline for federal taxes is rushing towards us. This year, personal federal returns are due April 18th. But if you don't have everything together, don't panic. Extensions can be filed. Just remember -this is an extension of time to FILE, not an extension of time to PAY!

Quick reminder -Employers need to get W2s out to their employees, AND to the Social Security Administration and Commonwealth of Virginia by the end of this month. And 1099s for non-employee compensation and rent, among other amounts, are due by the end of this month to the recipient AND the IRS.

I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted to this page. It seems like once upon a time we slowed down from May to December, and we do, but it seems like we still stay busy with something. Getting time for update classes for this year!
