Năm nay, ICE đã thực hiện hơn 15,000 cuộc kiểm tra hồ sơ I‑9 - trong khi những năm trước chỉ khoảng 1,000–2,000 cuộc mỗi năm.

Nhiều tiệm nail không biết rằng họ đang nằm trong nhóm có nguy cơ bị kiểm tra cao hơn gấp 3–4 lần các ngành nghề khác, đặc biệt nếu:
– Không có đủ hồ sơ I‑9 cho nhân viên
– Trả lương tiền mặt
– Thuê người chưa có giấy tờ hợp lệ

Nếu bị phát hiện vi phạm, mức phạt có thể lên đến $28,619 cho mỗi nhân viên.
