What’s your biggest financial fear? 👻

Not having enough money in retirement? Making a bad investment? Not having a strategy in place if something unexpected happens?

Some of the most common fears we hear include:
• “I’m behind on retirement.”
• “I’m afraid of investing at the wrong time.”
• “Estate preparation is only for wealthy families.”

The truth?
✅ It’s never too late to start strategizing—or start over
✅ Timing the market is challenging—even for professionals
✅ Estate preparation isn’t just about managing wealth

Financial fears are real. But facing them can be a lot less scary than you think.

If there’s something that scares you, let’s talk!

In the meantime, wishing you a fun, fear-free Halloween! 🎃

📅 Many of you will start getting notices about benefit open enrollment for 2026 soon.

Don't just put your benefits on autopilot!

Here are a few suggestions:

✓ Review last year's actual healthcare spend in-network and out-of-network, and deductibles

✓ Check if your doctors are still in-network for 2026

✓ Factor in any life changes: new baby, chronic conditions, planned procedures

✓ Consider an FSA to use pre-tax dollars for healthcare expenses. In 2026, the maximum annual contribution limit is $7,500

✓ Consider the pros and cons of HSA-eligible high-deductible plans

Remember: The cheapest premium isn't always the best financial choice, and the most expensive plan isn't always necessary.

What questions do you have about making smart benefits decisions that align with your financial goals?

Once you start Medicare, you can no longer contribute pretax dollars to your health savings account (HSA). Any money withdrawn from your HSA for nonmedical reasons is considered taxable income and faces an additional 20% penalty. This penalty is void after the age of 65; however, it will still become taxable income.

With federal electric vehicle tax credits now expired, states are stepping in to reshape incentives and fees.

According to Axios, 17 states continue to offer EV purchase credits — from $1,500 in Rhode Island to $7,500 in Oregon and Maine — while 40 states now charge higher registration fees for EVs and hybrids to offset lost gas tax revenue.

Colorado is expanding its state rebates for low- and middle-income drivers who trade in older, higher-emission vehicles. Eligible buyers can now receive up to $9,000 on new EVs or $6,000 on used models, even as broader state incentives are scheduled to decline next year.

The patchwork of state policies underscores how EV adoption and infrastructure funding are evolving as governments balance environmental goals with revenue needs.

State tax breaks for electric vehicles still exist, but so do higher vehicle registration fees.

The Vatican’s Swiss Guards, the world’s oldest standing army, have introduced a new look.

Unveiled this week, the updated black wool uniform features a yellow-and-white belt, double rows of buttons, and a Mao-style collar. It’s based on a centuries-old design last used in the 1970s and will be worn for formal but non-ceremonial occasions, such as diplomatic receptions.

The guards’ famous blue, yellow, and red Renaissance-style uniforms, often mistaken as Michelangelo’s work, aren’t going anywhere. Instead, the new attire adds to the Swiss Guards’ long tradition of blending history, ceremony, and service to the Vatican.

U.S. markets surged in Q3, with the S&P 500 up nearly 8% and the Nasdaq leading with double-digit gains. Strong corporate results, resilient consumer spending, and a long-anticipated Fed rate cut all fueled momentum. Globally, the MSCI EAFE Index rose over 4%, with China, Korea, and Japan posting standout performances. European markets were mostly positive, though Germany lagged.

Stocks powered ahead in the third quarter as solid economic data, strong corporate results, and a positive shift in Fed policy drove market momentum.

Private employers shed 32,000 jobs in September, marking the steepest drop in more than two years, according to ADP. Economists had expected a gain of 45,000.

The report is especially significant this month, as the government shutdown has delayed official Labor Department releases. Without those figures, ADP’s count becomes a crucial data point for policymakers and the market.

Job losses were widespread:
- Leisure and hospitality declined by 19,000.
- Professional and business services fell by 13,000.
- Trade, transportation, and utilities dropped 7,000.
- Construction lost 5,000.

Health care and education provided some relief, adding 33,000 positions. However, overall, the data indicate that hiring momentum has slowed heading into the Fed’s October meeting.

Private payrolls saw their biggest decline in 2½ years during September, ADP said.

Almost all of us know someone who’s been affected by breast cancer.

Over the years, we’ve walked alongside clients as they faced this diagnosis, helping them adjust strategies, navigate uncertainty, and focus on what mattered most to them.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder to be proactive: check in on the people you care about, keep up with your own screenings, and support the work being done in research, prevention, and care.

A little awareness, compassion, and early action can go a long way. 🎗️

Would your parents know what to do if someone called pretending to be you and it sounded exactly like your voice?

That's not a hypothetical anymore. AI has made voice cloning and scam sophistication far more convincing and far more common.

In 2024 alone, global consumers lost over $1 trillion to scams. Among adults over 60, two in five were victims, losing an average of $3,590. Most never saw it coming.

The most common scams we're seeing include:

▪️ Fake tech support pop-ups asking for remote access
▪️ Phishing emails impersonating banks, the IRS, or even charities
▪️ "Grandparent" scams using cloned voices to request emergency money
▪️ Online shopping scams via ads that look 100% legitimate

We've put together a simple guide with practical ways to help you and your family.

🔒 Use strong, unique passwords
📲 Set up banking alerts and two-factor authentication
🧓 Add a trusted contact to your investment accounts
📵 Never act on urgent requests without confirming the source

These scams are no longer about carelessness; they're about emotional manipulation and highly personalized deception.

Awareness is the first defense.
