🧣 Cold Weather Reminders for Renters

As temperatures drop, please take a few extra precautions to help protect your home and prevent costly damage during the colder months.

1. Keep the Heat On

Maintain indoor temperatures at a minimum of 60°F–65°F, even if you are away.

Never turn the heat completely off — this can cause frozen or burst pipes.

2. Protect Your Pipes

Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate.

Let faucets drip slightly during extremely cold nights to prevent freezing.

Know where your main water shut-off valve is located in case of emergency.

3. Windows & Doors

Keep windows and doors tightly closed.

Use weather stripping or towels to block drafts if needed.

Report any broken seals or drafts to management promptly.

4. Outdoor Preparations

Disconnect and drain all garden hoses.

Avoid using space heaters unless approved by management — they can be a fire hazard.

Keep walkways and steps clear of snow and ice for safety.

5. If You’re Away for More Than a Day or Two

Please notify management so we can check the property if needed.

Ensure heat is left on and all water lines are protected.
