Let's face it, projecting into the future is not an easy task. In order for you to really know how much you need for retirement, you have to project what your cash flow needs will be and determine if the growth of your assets will meet those cash flow needs. If they don't, then you will need to contribute more. But remember, it is just a projection. Through life's ups and downs, what you were able to contribute and how your assets grow can change. So make allowances for changes in circumstances and situations and stay the course as best you can. And if you don't know how to do this analysis, talk to financial planners who are fiduciaries such as ourselves and get the help you need so you can feel confident about your financial future.
When it comes to retirement, most people say they'd like to spend more time with their friends and family and possibly buy a vacation home and travel the world. That's a tall order for those with little or no nest egg.Â
