π Protect yourself.
Tax season isn't the only time scammers are working. Identity thieves and fraudsters are becoming more sophisticated every year, which is why the IRS is increasing its efforts to combat tax-related scams.
A quick reminder:
π« The IRS will not call, text, or email you unexpectedly demanding payment or personal information.
π« Don't click suspicious links.
π« Don't share sensitive information unless you're certain who you're communicating with.
If something doesn't feel right, trust that instinct.
As your tax professional, protecting your information is just as important to me as preparing your return. If you ever receive a notice, email, text, or phone call that seems questionable, send it my way before responding. I'd rather answer a quick question than see you become the victim of a scam.
We're in this together. π
