OTSEGO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
October 14, 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Planning Commission meeting for the Town of Otsego will be held at the Otsego Town Hall, W3199 Hwy 16 on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of:
1. Call to order
2. Roll call
3. Approve agenda
4. Approval of minutes from last meeting
5. Department staff was contacted by the property owners regarding the potential to construct a single-family residence on the property. Parcel 66.01 is 35.42 acres in size and is listed as Lot 1 of Certified Survey Map No 5820. The property is a mixture of wetland, woodland, and cropland and is planned for Agricultural or Open Space land use on the Columbia County Future Land Use map. The property fronts on both County Highway B and Williams Road. 15 acres of wetland are located in the southern portion of the property and there is no floodplain present. The southwestern 27 acres of the property are designated as prime farmland, or prime farmland where drained. The northern 7.5 acres along County Highway B are listed as highly erodible per NRCS. Land use and zoning of adjacent properties are shown in the table below.

The property owners are proposing to create a 1.39-acre lot along the eastern side of parcel 66.01. This 1.39-acre lot will be rezoned to RR-1 Rural Residence to allow for the construction of a new home and will front on County Highway B. To maintain a density of one home per 35 acres for the new home, the remaining 34.03 acres of parcel 66.01 will be restricted from further residential development by rezoning to A-1 Agriculture with A-4 Agricultural Overlay. This proposal will require a Certified Survey Map (CSM). Because the property fronts on a county highway, a highway easement or dedication will be required with the CSM. This proposal is in accordance with Section 12.125.05(1-4).

REASON: While the Wisconsin Department of Revenue was reviewing the assessor’s work for compliance with state mandates, it was learned that the software that is being used has omitted a land classification, which causes inaccurate assessments.

Starting Wednesday, April 2nd the Town of Otsego Recycle Center will be open on Wednesday nights from 4-7:00 p.m.

Treasurer Diane Foreman will be available at the Otsego Town Hall on December 23, 2024 and January 20, 205 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. for those Town of Otsego residents who would like to pay their taxes in person.

Be advised that the DNR burn permit requirement that was reinstated this fall will be rescinded as of midnight tonight (November 8 2024).

The normal date for DNR Burning Permits to be required in Otsego Township is January 1st through May 31st.
