Two retirements. Decades of memories. And one very important Blues Brothers reunion. 😎🎶

Today, the Ridgeland office celebrated Debbie Hunt and John Long as they wrapped up two incredible careers with GranthamPoole. Debbie has been with the firm for 28 years and John for 33!

Of course, we couldn’t send them off without a few throwbacks. John reprised his legendary role from a tax season party years ago as a member of the Blues Brothers, this time with partners Jack Kaler and Robby Groves joining the act.

We also learned that Debbie apparently knew how to make an impression from day one. Both Dickens and Brad confessed they were a little scared of her when they first met her! We’re pretty sure she considers that a compliment. 😉

Debbie and John, thank you for the hard work, leadership, laughs and countless memories. We wish you both all the best in this very well-earned next chapter!

📣 Let's hear it for Shelbi Barkett, who knows that behind every successful nonprofit is important work that often goes unseen.

As an accounting controller with GranthamPoole, she helps nonprofit organizations strengthen their financial practices, improve operations, and make the most of their resources.

With an MBA and a background in accounting, she's eager to use her knowledge and experience to give back in new ways. She's passionate about financial education and helping nonprofits become stronger, more effective organizations so they can better serve those who depend on them.

A Mississippi Gulf Coast native who has chosen to build her life and career here, Shelbi has a special place in her heart for children and families facing difficult circumstances or lacking access to opportunities and support. She's seen how circumstances beyond a child's control can affect their development and well-being, inspiring her desire to make a difference.

As a provisional member of the Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs, Shelbi looks forward to supporting local children and families through service projects and volunteer opportunities.

Our audit team recently had the opportunity to attend the AICPA Not-for-Profit and Governmental Conference in Dallas! The team gained valuable insights and technical training on topics impacting our audit engagements while also enjoying the chance to connect and strengthen relationships across our different locations. Twenty-five years ago today, the world changed.

Some members of our team were too young to remember September 11, 2001. Others had not yet been born. But for those of us who were old enough to understand what was happening, the memories remain remarkably vivid. We remember where we were when we heard the news, the images we watched unfold, and the uncertainty of the days that followed.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, honor the first responders and all those who stepped forward in the aftermath, and reflect on a day that shaped a generation.
