Last week, I had the honor of hosting a powerful workshop for the women of Pi Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated centered around a topic that is very close to my heart: Design Your Legacy: Financial Planning with Purpose.

This empowering session was all about equipping women with the knowledge and tools needed to build, protect, and sustain generational wealth. Together, we explored what it means to be intentional with our finances—aligning financial decisions with our personal values, our families, and the long-term legacy we hope to create.

We talked about the importance of having a plan, not just for today, but for the generations that will follow us. Because legacy isn’t only about money—it’s about clarity, stewardship, and the courage to make decisions that shape the future.

I truly had a wonderful time connecting with such an incredible group of women. Their engagement, thoughtful questions, and commitment to growth made the experience so meaningful.

Moments like this remind me why I do this work. Financial empowerment has the power to transform families and communities, and I’m deeply grateful for every opportunity to serve, teach, and walk alongside women from all backgrounds as they step into greater financial clarity and confidence.

Today is January 1—and as we step into this new year, I want to pause and speak from the heart.

The year that just closed held both beauty and heartbreak for me. There were moments I’m deeply grateful for—wins, growth, and reminders that the seeds I planted mattered. And there were moments I never imagined facing… moments I wish with everything in me had never happened.

This year tested me. Not in ways that made me feel strong every day—but in ways that demanded resilience when I felt tired, diligence when motivation was low, and perseverance when the path forward felt unclear. Some days, simply getting up and choosing to keep going was the victory.

And I know I’m not alone in that. I know many of you are stepping into this year carrying your own quiet battles, lessons, and scars. We were all tested in one way or another—and yet, here we are. Still standing. Still believing. Still moving forward.

So as we begin this new year, I want to encourage you the same way I encourage myself: keep going. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Even when it’s slow. Even when you don’t yet see how everything will come together.

Your story is still unfolding. Mine is too.

We are in this together. When one of us feels weary, another carries hope. When one stumbles, someone else reaches back. That’s how we move forward—side by side.
