The has issued the 2023 optional standard mileage rates used to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving purposes. For most folks, the filing and tax payment deadline is Monday, April 18, 2022. If you need more time to file, simply request an extension to file. You must request an extension to file by April 18. The IRS still has 8 million 2020 tax returns yet to be processed.

In an effort to prevent processing delays for 2021 returns, the IRS is mailing out two letters that you will need to file your 2021 tax return. Letter “6419” provides the total of Advance Child Tax Credit you received in 2021. Letter “6475” provides the amount of the third stimulus check you received in 2021. Filing these forms with your tax return will help prevent processing and refund delays. Be watching your mail for these letters.
