We're starting a Curo book club, and we want you to choose our first read.

You already know we believe money is about so much more than numbers. It's about confidence, clarity, and the lives we're building.

We pulled together a few books in that spirit, and your vote decides where we begin.

Here's the shortlist:
1. "Big Trust" by Dr. ShadΓ© Zahrai, on building the self-trust and confidence to lead your own life.
2. "The Art of Spending Money" by Morgan Housel, a fresh look at actually enjoying the wealth you've worked for.
3. "Strangers," a novel about a marriage coming apart, for when we want our money lessons wrapped in a good story.

Drop your pick in the comments (1, 2, or 3), and tell us why. We'll announce the winner next month and host a book club discussion live online at the end of summer.

Which one are you reaching for first?

The HSA is one of the most underused accounts in personal finance, and one of the most powerful.

-> Pre-tax contributions
> Tax-free growth
-> Tax-free withdrawals for qualified medical expenses.

The money rolls over every year with no pressure to spend it, which means it can grow for decades and be there when healthcare costs are at their highest.

If you haven't looked at your HSA contributions this year, the second half of 2026 is a good time to change that.

Retirement planning would be simpler if it were just about hitting a specific number.

In reality, your timeline depends on what your life actually costs, and that picture is rarely just monthly bills. It's the tuition you're still funding for one child while another is heading into grad school; it's the wedding you want to help host without thinking twice about the cost; it's the trips that have always been part of how your family stays close.

Add in when you plan to claim Social Security, how your healthcare gets covered before Medicare, and how long your income needs to last, and the picture gets layered quickly.

A generic retirement calculator won't catch the way these variables interact with each other or with the life you've actually built. Holistic retirement planning is built for exactly that.

πŸ“Œ When you receive an inheritance, it is generally considered separate property, not a marital asset, even if you are married.

πŸ’‘ However, mixing these funds with joint accounts can unintentionally change their status to marital assets.

πŸ”’ We suggest keeping inherited funds in separate accounts for at least 90 days to maintain their protection.

A 2025 BMO study found that women who deferred to a spouse on financial decisions were 40% more likely to receive a lower-than-expected divorce settlement.

Financial engagement during a relationship is often a neglected practice of self-advocacy for women. Knowing what you own, understanding how your money is working, and having a voice in every financial decision that affects your life changes your outcomes, in the best of times and the hardest.

At Curo, we encourage every woman we work with to know what she owns, understand how her money is working, and take an active seat in every financial decision that shapes her future.

πŸͺœ The step-up in basis applies to inherited investments like stocks and real estate.

πŸ“Œ Keep in mind that calculating the value of inherited assets on the date of death can be complex and may require professional guidance.

πŸ”‘ It's important to confirm the stepped-up basis during the 90-day period before making any portfolio decisions.
