THANK YOU RENO!

Friday night wasn’t just a celebration of 50 years, it was a celebration of the people who made those 50 years possible.

To our clients, colleagues, friends, family, and community: thank you for celebrating with us and for trusting us through the years.

Your support has shaped our story, and we’re grateful to have shared this milestone with so many familiar faces.

Here’s to 50 incredible years and to everything that’s still ahead.

Cheers to 50 Years & Counting!

Three federal agencies recently issued guidance on employer-sponsored wellness programs. It addresses how health-contingent wellness programs, including tobacco-cessation programs, must treat participants who complete a reasonable alternative standard during the associated health insurance plan year. Until further guidance is issued, the agencies generally won’t take enforcement action against plans that provide a reward only for the period after participants satisfy an alternative standard rather than retroactively, as long as other applicable requirements are met. If your organization sponsors a wellness program, we can help you evaluate its financial, compliance and administrative costs.

Paying dividends isn’t the only way to take cash out of your C corporation. Corporate distributions are generally taxable to you to the extent of your company’s “earnings and profits,” and your company can’t deduct them.

To avoid dividend treatment, consider having your business repay bona fide loans you’ve made to it or taking out properly structured loans from it. You might also increase your compensation (as long as it’s still “reasonable”) or qualifying tax-free fringe benefits — or lease or sell assets to your business.

Before proceeding, evaluate the tax implications for you and your corporation. Contact us to review the applicable rules and determine what’s right for your situation.
